La Laguna estate has been in the Rivera family for decades, and is currently operated by Alfredo Rivera Diaz. Since the current generation took over in 2000, the estate has invested heavily in cutting edge milling and processing facilities. The facility is not only used for the family’s own estate, but is also open to other small farm holders in the region, free of charge.

Not only do they open the mill up to other farmers, but they also provide mentoring and training, again or free, with the aim to improve the standard of Honduran coffee across the board. On top of this, the La Laguna also operates a community hub and general store which sells basic food items, like milk, rice, fruit & vegetables at cost
