Kirorero Washing Station services a little over 1500 farms in the Boneza and Musasa regions, with a particular focus in supporting woman farmers who constitute around 800 of the contributors. Tucked into the Gasuma Valley right at lake level, Kirorero is only accessible by boat. Coffee is depulped and fermented for 12-18hrs before being soaked for 24hrs, then dried.
Processed coffee is then consolidated and shipped over-lake again to export partner COOPAC, a locally established co-operative which promotes social and environmental sustainability, providing funding and support for schools, healthcare, livestock and roads and bridges throughout the
community.
