Heralding from a long line of coffee farmers, Ayele Fulasa inherited his farm from his father. Since then, the farm has almost doubled in size. Ayele grows 74110 coffee, a variety developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Centre (JARC) designed to be more resistant to the damaging impacts of pests and climate change. He uses organic fertilizers, like manure from his own farm animals to nourish his trees and can therefore avoid using artificial or chemical fertilizers.

Cherry is selectively hand-picked at harvest time and then floated to remove any damaged cherry. It is then spread out on raised drying beds and dried for up to 21 days.
